Frans Nicholas Architects is a Welsh architectural design and conservation practice. Established 27 years ago, it offers architecture and place-making to a high standard, producing imaginative and well-crafted contemporary design, alongside the expert conservation of historic buildings. Working closely with our clients, we seek to make successful, distinctive, and human-scaled buildings and places, and practical, sustainable environments. From a base in West Wales, we work throughout Wales, sometimes also undertaking work in England and the European Union.
The practice focuses on the conservation and alteration of historic buildings; the careful design of new houses and house extensions; and high quality public buildings. We have written and published a number of Conservation Plans and Conservation Area Appraisals, Design Guides, and other authoritative studies. The practice acts as an expert witness on building conservation matters. We also specialise in making well-researched documentary films on architectural and building conservation subjects.
We welcome project-based collaborative work with other practices and disciplines, where our special expertise can contribute to positive outcomes.
